gamejam theme: bite the bullet
interpretation in this game:
first of all, this game is full of bullets and bites! Besides the obvious, you can also buy a "bulletbite" perk. Every killed enemy will give you some health back. This is the only way in the game to regain health. So if you low on health, you have to put yourself into the uncomfortable situation of acting more aggressive. You also have to "bite" your way through to better gear. Your new minigun is just a couple of deaths away! :-)
prefered way of playing is with mouse and keyboard.
controls (mouse and keyboard):
move: WASD
aim: mouse
pause: escape
shoot right weapon: left mouse button
shoot left weapon: right mouse button
activate bullet bite (when bought): space
controls (gamepad):
IMPORTANT: Menus do not work with gamepad currently
move: left stick
aim: right stick
shoot right weapon: RT
shoot left weapon: LT
activate bullet bite (if bought): RB or LB
pause: start
how to play:
Kill enemies to collect credits, secure credits using extractors:
buy new weapons and abilities in the shop, equip your weapons in the equip menu
You can (and have to) equip your weapons for both hands. You can even start a mission without a weapon equipped at all if you want to during the first enemy wave.
known bugs and issues:
- physics are going crazy on slower hardware
- crosshair can move too far into the scene
- navigating UI with gamepad does not work
- character animations might jitter under windows
- ingame menu does not get reset when hitting escape
- i experienced one random crash so far, but progress gets saved, so not a huge problem ^^
- maybe more stuff that i missed :-D
the game uses exclusive fullscreen or windowed mode and runs on 1080p
things that did not get finished
- more abilities (bulletbite damage increase, dash)
- buyable armor. models are already in the game, but i did not manage to finish the underlying system for it
- proper boss enemy. but we have tanky mainframes now so who even cares?!
- better model textures (its really just the exported uv map with some colors)
- more dynamic camera movement
- not so janky aiming
- random map, spend too long on it and opted out early to concentrate on gameplay
